Alma College Lacrosse: A Brotherhood

Overview

Alma College Lacrosse: A Brotherhood, is a short documentary about the men’s lacrosse team here at Alma College. After going 8-33 and having 3 coaches in 4 years, the team is in a rebuilding stage and is looking to bounce back after some hard years. The documentary aims to capture the earlier half of the season and how the team prepares for the season, and how they overcome adversity as a brotherhood.

Purpose and Process

For my project, I wanted to capture the struggles of the Alma Men’s Lacrosse team after their struggles over the past years. I started out by defining 3 players who encapsulate the team and have seen all the struggles of the past 3 years: Dylan Smith, Cole Pearson, and Patrick Hodges. For the Alpha version of my project, I interviewed the following players about their experiences, struggles, and what it means to be a part of the team. I then set out to capture footage of practice and games to build out a rough version for my Beta. After receiving feedback, I restructured my story and did some fine-tuning to complete my final version.
